Explore the art of pyrography and create a wood slice art piece to take home with you!

In this beginner friendly pyrography class, participants will be introduced to the art of wood burning through hands on learning, step by step demonstrations, and guided practice. Students will learn foundational pyrography techniques such as line work, shading, texture, and tool control while creating their own custom wood slice to take home.

Each participant can choose a theme or image they would like to create, and support will be provided to help transfer the design onto the wood before burning begins. Along the way, the class will explore a variety of wood burning tools, tips, and materials, including three different pyrography machines at different price points so participants can better understand the differences between beginner and professional equipment.

The class also includes discussion around safety, including proper handling of hot tools, workspace awareness, ventilation, suitable wood choices, and important considerations around wood toxicities and unsafe materials. The intention is to give participants not only a fun and creative experience, but also a strong foundation of knowledge so they feel more confident continuing pyrography at home if they choose.
